Is my brother’s Xbox broken?
I know that if three sectors on an Xbox are red then it’s broken and if all four are red then something’s just not connected right. Well, at first I thought that all four sectors were red, so I disconnected and reconnected everything on it. But that didn’t change anything, so I looked at the sectors again, and now I can’t tell if three or four are red. The whole circle is red, but separately, the first, third, and fourth sectors are brighter than the second one. Does that matter?
If 3 are lit up, then your brother’s Xbox has 1 of the 2 “deadly” red rings, but the 3 red ring can be repaired for free, while the other deadly red ring (1 quadrant) can be repaired for $100. If your brother has 4 red rings, then yes, the cables aren’t connected right. It should be pretty easy to tell if 4 or 3 quadrants are lit up, check google for some pictures and compare what your brother’s xbox looks like and what you find online.
yeh 3 r lit up, its because the back lights of the red from the other 3 r lighting up the final sector
It they are red, your brother has the red ring of death on his console and needs to get it repaired by Microsoft.
I bought a pS3 because I was scared for this to happen.
My 360 just rrod’d today and when I was attempting to revive it I had the same problem distinguishing if it was 3 or 4 red lights.
But, all you have to do is look at the system at EYE LEVEL. If you look at it from off-level, the backlights from the flashing lights are going to seep through any unlit quadrant and make it appear lit up (it’ll look dimmer than the rest though).
If needed, turn off all the lights possible and get the room the darkest you can, then look at the system from eye level – should be obvious now!
