You need to log on to your router settings via your computer.

To do this:
1. Open your internet browser (e.g. internet explorer)
2. Enter your router IP address in the address bar (most commonly: 192.168.0.1)
3. If a password and user name is required entre it (if you haven’t set one try: "admin" and "password" or call your internet service provider (ISP))
4. Go to wireless setting and then wireless security settings and change it/view it from there.

Then entre the code into your Xbox

My 360 just rrod'd today and when I was attempting to revive it I had the same problem distinguishing if it was 3 or 4 red lights.

But, all you have to do is look at the system at EYE LEVEL. If you look at it from off-level, the backlights from the flashing lights are going to seep through any unlit quadrant and make it appear lit up (it'll look dimmer than the rest though).

If needed, turn off all the lights possible and get the room the darkest you can, then look at the system from eye level - should be obvious now!

Hi vsb1002,

You don't have to live with the E74, Red Ring of Death (RROD)! I don't think it is bad luck that you got it anyway.

In any case, there is a guide online that will teach you how to deal with the Red ring of death (RROD) in under an hour, at the comfort of your own home. You don't have to ship your xbox around anymore.

Visit http://www.toplifesecrets.com/xbox360 for a free report on the exact causes of the error. The full solution to the the RROD can also be found in the website.

Learning how to repair your XBox will save you a LOT of Money. Microsoft will not tell you how to fix these errors. They'll ask you to send your system back to them for repair. The typical cost for a repair can be as much as $140 plus shipping and handling. Also - they do not always guarantee a fix!

Use this guide to repair your own XBox 360 - and save your $140 for games.

Yep, you are totally correct on the towel trick. It really can destroy your Xbox 360. This guide provides a comprehensive, permanent and safe methodology to solve the E74, RROD predicament.

I hope this was the answer you are looking for. If you need any additional information, please see my recommended source!

If 3 are lit up, then your brother's Xbox has 1 of the 2 "deadly" red rings, but the 3 red ring can be repaired for free, while the other deadly red ring (1 quadrant) can be repaired for $100. If your brother has 4 red rings, then yes, the cables aren't connected right. It should be pretty easy to tell if 4 or 3 quadrants are lit up, check google for some pictures and compare what your brother's xbox looks like and what you find online.

Jail is a possibility. What you are wanting to do is illegal. It's called theft. You would be stealing an Xbox 360. It is possible to repair the RROD. Check into it.

According to your logic, I should be able to take my 1985 Mustang back to my local dealer and get a 2009 model. Same thing.
